Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few FAQ’s but please send us a direct message if we don’t cover something that’s on your mind!
I’m new to yoga. Can I still come on the retreat?
Heck yeah! We are BIG fans of beginners. Pa’lante Yoga was founded on this principle of stepping outside your comfort zone, so by attending our retreat, you’ve already embodied our deepest core value. Our classes are open to all levels with modifications and variations to suit all body types. Plus, if we need to revisit basic alignment as a group, that’s okay! Even the most advanced practitioners can benefit from Yoga 101.
I’ve never travelled with strangers before. What’s the group dynamic like?
Well, the good thing about yoga is that it invites us to be more open-minded and compassionate. Then through our opening ceremony ice-breakers, day trips, group activities, and dinner table discussions, this group of strangers quickly becomes family.
I want to go on a retreat but I can’t afford it. What can I do?
We’re on a mission to make EPIC yoga retreats more accessible, with a variety of price points for different room types. We offer a payment plan, so you can pay a small deposit and pay the rest little by little. We typically break the payments into three chunks, but if you prefer to pay a little each month to hold you accountable, we can absolutely accommodate that. Additionally, if you sign up for our pre-sale mailing list, we’ll send you early-bird pricing for each retreat! If you still have questions about finances, please send us a message and we can discuss your options. Asking for help is highly encouraged. We do it all the time!
How do you determine the price of each retreat?
Jax, our founder, plans all of the retreats herself. She’s an experienced budget traveler who has mastered the art of stretching a buck, so you can get a world-class retreat experience for an average vacation price. Our retreats are nearly all-inclusive so once you arrive, you can ditch your wallet and focus purely on enjoying yourself. We don’t aim to make money from our retreats, as your presence and the experience itself is payment enough. We truly want you, as our guest, to pay as little as possible. And in return, we simply ask that you help us change the world with the mindfulness you cultivate on your yoga mat.
Do I need a passport to attend a retreat?
For all international ones, yes. Your passport must be valid for 90 days after your retreat return-date.
What kind of food do you serve during the retreat?
Each retreat will be different, based on the country we’re visiting, as we like to try local flavors and ingredients. We will provide primarily nutritious, plant-based options. Not only is it beneficial for your physical body and yoga practice, but it’s good for the environment, too. And as world-travelers and nature-lovers, that means a lot to us. We will provide you with all the food you need to fuel our adventures. But feel free to get extra snacks in town during your free time!
I’m injured. Can I still come?
I guess we’d say… it depends. Yes, we can 100% accommodate injuries in our yoga classes. But we also don’t want you to pay for an experience that isn’t going to serve you. Send us a direct message with more details about your injury and we can give you more personalized guidance.
Do I have to participate in all the yoga classes and activities?
Not at all. We encourage you to be as involved in the group itinerary as possible, as there is a bit of strategy going into it. The trip is designed to balance introspection and the unknown. If you skip all the yoga, or don’t try something new, you may leave the experience feeling uninspired and dissatisfied. But if you’re called to take some alone time or your body just needs a break, please please listen to that. Ultimately, it’s your vacation and we honor how you’d like to spend your time.
Can I party like it’s 1999?
Drugs are a definite no-no. As far as alcohol is concerned, feel free to enjoy a glass of wine in town during your free time or during one of our day trips. At the retreat space, alcohol is not permitted so that we can create a safe space for all guests. The best part of a yoga retreat is getting your body, mind, and spirit to a state of health and well-being. We simply ask that you come back to that intention during the retreat and act with mindfulness on your yoga mat and beyond.
