for the:

hippie heart

Someone recently shared a quote with me that said, “When it comes to life, if you do it right, once is enough.”

So we’re running off to the wilderness to slow down, listen, and discover what “right” means for each of us. To live in integrity is the ultimate goal - where our outer world matches our inner world. So the hippie hearts are being summoned. Let’s start a revolution of more love and more peace, beginning with ourselves.

retreat intention: alignment

primary chakras: throat

Klesha: fear of death

Two (2) nights accommodation in te arai

Our first stop is Te Arai - a long stretch of duney coastline on the eastern side of the island, 1.5 hours north of Auckland. We’ll have a beautiful glamping site to ourselves, equipped with eco pods and tents. It’s the ultimate grounding experience to kick any jet lag. A couple of days in the sun is just what the doctor ordered before heading west.

Six (6) nights accommodation in Donnellys crossing

Settle in to this eclectic forest hideaway. This is where we will spend majority of our retreat, deep-diving into the yoga practice, exploring the land, and becoming immersed in the local culture. Remotely located on the Western coast, we’re invited to slow down and simply notice.

three (3) hours of yoga/day

This retreat will include three (3) hours of yoga per day, featuring a primarily-Hatha-style practice. We’ll also dive into a few specialty workshops:

  • Forest Bathing: Rewiring in Nature

  • True Integrity: Living in Alignment

  • Throat Chakra: Asana for Openness + Balance

Morning surf AND afternoon paddle

In Te Arai, we will jam pack our day with surfing + yoga + paddling (SUP or kayak). If you wish to sit out the surf, the beach is expansive and ready for exploring.

aranga beach + maunganui bluff hike

We’ll pop over from the forest to the beach for this challenging, three-hour hike along the Maunganui Bluff. At the summit is a view of Aranga beach and its rugged coastline, overlooking the Tasman sea.

Waipoua forest visit

All of my favorite places on the earth have mana or spiritual energy and the Waipoua Forest is known for it. It is home to the largest Kauri trees in New Zealand, including Tane Mahuta, Lord of the Forest, standing at 167 ft. and 2,000 years old. We’ll be guided by members of the Te Raroa Iwi (tribe) and learn more about the history and mythology behind this sacred land.

partial silent day

“Vippasana” is a traditional yoga practice of silence that translates from Sanskrit to: seeing things as they really are. The forest has wisdom and we must slow down to notice. Here’s what you can expect from the partial silent day:

  • 108 sun salutations

  • Breakfast

  • One (1) hour meditation

  • Nature walk

  • Lunch

  • One (1) hour meditation

I’ll make sure you’re well-prepared the night before. If you’ve never done this before, you’re in for a fun surprise!

maori healing workshop

We will have the opportunity to learn about the ancient wisdom of the plants, and the medicinal properties of the forest, through this half-day workshop hosted by local healers.

Nature Printing Workshop

Step 1, collect natural treasures. Step 2, create art. A fun workshop of cyanotype sun printing.

Three (3) Meals/Day

Three (3) plant-based meals a day, prepared by private chefs in each location. We will do so much exploring and practice so much yoga, our meals are truly intended for fuel and nourishment.
